Skin Rejuvenation and Resurfacing for Photodamage and Aging

As skin ages, it loses volume and moisture, and collagen and elastin barriers break down. This, in turn, leads to sagging, dullness, and visible lines of motion such as wrinkles and creases. This natural process is also made worse by sun exposure, smoking, and environmental factors such as pollution.

Photodamage, or changes to your skin caused by exposure to the sun, accounts for most of what we recognize as “aging skin” including uneven tone, brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles and rough texture.  In fact, most dermatologists agree that sunscreen is the most important anti-aging product for anyone interested in maintaining healthy, young-looking skin.  Dr. Grossman recommends wearing sunscreen everyday, year-round, as part of an overall skin care regimen.

While a proper skin care regimen can improve the appearance of your skin, topical skin care products work best when patients follow a healthy lifestyle, including a good diet, regular exercise and ample amount of sleep. Skin care products can also be used in combination with light- or energy-based devices and injectables to achieve best results. Dr. Grossman will tailor treatment to your particular skin care concerns, and will discuss various professional and at-home options for overall improvement during your consultation.

As a leading researcher, Dr. Grossman is on the cutting edge of new technologies, working to determine their safety and effectiveness and to establish treatment protocols to provide the best possible outcomes for patients.

Laser Skin Rejuvanation

Lasers and light-based technologies continue to be at the forefront of skin rejuvenation procedures. These devices harness the power of light energy to precisely target the skin to improve tone, texture, radiance, signs of aging and photodamage. People with darker skin types can be treated with most lasers, but there is a higher risk of pigmentation changes after certain treatments.

Dr. Grossman has a portfolio of lasers and devices to address a variety of skin rejuvenation needs:

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

The Artisan LUX G™ Intense Pulsed Light Source harnesses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to even skin tone and treat vascular and pigmented lesions as well as facial spider veins. Typically patients need a series of treatments for best results.

Non-Ablative Lasers

The MedLite® C6 laser uses PhotoAcoustic energy to gentle improve the skin’s tone and texture. It’s an excellent option to treat dark spots, photodamage, wrinkles and scars, including acne scars. Safe for any skin color, the MedLite® C6 stimulates collagen renewal and healthy cell turnover for smoother, younger-looking skin – with no downtime. Best results require multiple sessions.

The Gemini laser targets vascular and pigmented lesions to improve and enhance skin tone with no discomfort or downtime. Skin will look noticeably different after one treatment and continue to improve with a series of treatments.

Fractional Non-Ablative Laser

The Artisan LUX 1540™ laser is a fractional laser that uses high-precision microbeams to stimulate new collagen, reduce wrinkles and scars – with minimal downtime. A series of several treatments is needed for best results.

Fractional Ablative Lasers

The UltraPulse® Fractional CO2 laser offers both superficial and deep fractional ablation. UltraPulse® is ideal for fine lines, uneven texture and dyschromia, and can also provide more aggressive treatment for advanced wrinkles and scars. Patients can expect some downtime.

The Artisan 2940 Erbium laser safely targets deep into the skin to treat advanced wrinkles, photodamage and/or scars. Patients can also expect downtime with this procedure.

Skin Resurfacing:

Dr. Grossman performs microdermabrasion for overall skin rejuvenation and to remove dead skin, dirt and contaminants. Tiny particles pass through a vacuum tube to gently scrape away dead skin cells. Patients report they immediately notice a “glow,” and softer, smoother, and younger looking skin. Makeup also goes on more smoothly following microdermabrasion. Monthly maintenance is required to achieve the best results.

Glycolic Acid Peels

Glycolic acid peels gently resurface skin to reduce brown spots, blotchiness, and acne.
